We will drive out to the eastern side of Lake Hawea and walk up the Pakituhi track, which is part of the Te Araroa Trail.
From the carpark [ which is 300m further up the road ] the steep in places track, zigzags up to a saddle where there are great views to the west.
The weather report is looking not so good, so we will collectively decide on an alternative, perhaps closer to home when we meet.
