Monday's Walk – 28th February 2022

Destination: Upper Potters Creek

Description: An 11 km loop track on the western slopes of the Carrick Range above Bannockburn with expansive views over the lower Nevis Valley and the Hector Mountains. All on 4WD tracks but there may be a few swampy sections and/or small streams to cross. Will require a short (2.5 km) shuttle to reposition cars.

Monday 21st February

The walk will be to Rob Roy Glacier. Weather looking fine with a high of 25. There is shade on the walk and also quite a few steps!

So it's a 10 kms return walk with lovely viewing spots for lunch below the Glacier.

Car pooling (if you are happy) to Raspberry Flat about an hour from Wanaka on the Mt Aspiring Rd. As we have had recent rain a few of the fords may have a bit of water in them so if there are 4WD vehicles that may be an advantage.

Meet as usual 9.30.

Leader: Jane Hudson.

Monday's Walk: 14 February 2022

Destination: Haast Pass Bridle Path

Description: A 3.5 km walk up the old bridle path from Davis Flat to the Haast Pass, followed by a 1.5 km return walk up to the lookout above the pass and a return to Davis Flat. Pleasant bush, attractive river views, and a fine view of Mt Brewster from the lookout. We should be back at the cars in plenty of time for a stop at the Makarora Country Cafe, now under new management.

Monday 7 February

Happy New Year and Welcome Back

Monday walks are starting again tomorrow. Our destination is Sheehey Lake, which is actually a small lake and not just a lake bed.

This is a 5km walk starting from the Hawkburn Road Lookout in Clyde.

The day is not forecast to be too hot but bring plenty of water, as there is no shade (and you can't drink from the lake).

Usual meeting place at 9:30 am. Leader: Jane Hudson
