Monday's Walk - 1st August 2022

Albert Town New Castle Track

Meet at 9.30am at the waterfront car park opposite McDougall Street.
Then drive to Albert Town on the State highway.
At the Albert Town shops turn left into Alison Ave and drive to the end tuning right into car park.
Albert Towners can meet us there.

We will walk to the bridge and then up to swing bridge over the Hawea River.
Followed by a stroll through the Butterfield wetlands ending up on the banks of the Clutha river.
Then up the hill following the cliff edge to the Newcastle Track.
At this point we drop down to the beehives on the river flat below, and out to the Clutha River for lunch.
Return much the same way.
Great views. Some "off" track walking so wear sturdy foot wear.
Approximately 12K and 4 hours walking time.

Monday's Walk - 4 July 2022

Destination Colquhouns Beach. Start at Homestead Bay West Wanaka with a 7km walk along a well-formed undulating track to Colquhouns Beach. Track crosses a couple of small streams and is likely to be a little muddy but not excessively slippery. We will find a suitable place for lunch stopping short of the beach because the last section is very boggy. Return along the same track.
