An easy and mostly flat 10 km walk following part of the Two Rivers Cycle Trail along the Kawarau River, from Arrow Junction Road to the old Shotover River road bridge. Monday's Walk: 24 June 2019

Boundary Creek Track

The weather forecast looks good ( early frost likely) for a pleasant climb up to an old musterers' track on the way to Makarora. The 4WD track starts opposite the Boundary Creek campsite on SH6 between Hawea and Makarora and climbs 500m to a viewpoint looking back to the head of lake Wanaka. We can follow the old musterers' trail to find a lunch spot above Boundary Creek gorge, then return the same way.

Monday's Walk: 17 June 2019

Alfern Reserve and beyond

Up to the Alfern Reserve on the hills above Queensbury, continuing on to about the 950 m mark where a well placed lunch rock on a small plateau gives extensive views towards the upper Clutha Valley, Tarras, and the St Bathans Range. Return the same way. All on 4WD tracks, but some mud is likely.

Monday 10th June

Our destination for lunch today is Meg Hut. We will start from the Snow Farm entrance to Tuohys Gully, which may be boggy at the bottom.
The track is a farm track rising up the hill for approximately 2 hours. Meg Hut itself sits down in the valley a short walk away and is visible from the top.
We return the same way to the cars.

Monday Walk 3rd June

The Kanuka loop starts and finishes at the Bendigo historic reserve. It's a 10k loop with nice views for lunch. A mix of terrain could be muddy and some signs of the gold mining history to look out for.
