Monday's Walk 13th March 2023

Destination: Emerald Bluffs / Paddock Bay

Note: this walk was not accessible. Instead we did Boundary Creek

Description: A short, flat, and easy loop walk from the West Wanaka Road, passing through a reconstructed native wetland en route to Lake Wanaka opposite Glendhu Bluff, around the western shore of Paddock Bay, and then returning via Buchanan Rise. This is a short walk so we can anticipate an early lunch and being back at the cars by 1:30 p.m. at the latest. Overnight rain is very likely but most forecasts suggest it will clear by morning.

Monday’s walk 6th March 2023

Rob Roy Glacier top viewpoint

With snow on the tops again, and Monday predicted to be fine, it seems time to have lunch looking out at the Rob Roy Glacier. It's a 3-4 hour return walk, climbing (some of it up steps) about 280m over 5 km (one way) to the top viewpoint at 780m.

Meet at 9.30am at the waterfront carpark opposite Mc Dougal Street.
