Monday's walk 25th September

Whitechapel Road to Chard Farm.
We drive over the Crown Range, turn right and turn right and dump our passengers at the Whitechapel Flat Historic Reserve. The cars are then shuffled to the bungy jump car park. From Whitechapel Road we head to the Loo with a View for an optional comfort stop. The cycle track turns left and winds its way over bridges and passes under underpasses to emerge at the bungy bridge. Resisting the temptation to jump off, we continue on a short distance before turning right into Chard Road. We will probably turn back before we get to Chard Farm.

Monday's Walk 11 September 2023

Destination: Bendigo Reserve via Mt Koinga access

Description: A walk into the Bendigo Reserve via the Mt Koinga Track, starting from the picnic area / boat launching ramp / parking area on SH8 1 km below the north end of Lake Dunstan. This climbs 150 m to the Reserve boundary from where 4WD tracks gain another 400 m as they wind through thick stands of kanuka to meet the high point of the Kanuka Loop Track. Steep in places but with a return walking distance of just 7 km we'll have plenty of time to take it slowly and take in a Tarras cafe stop on our return.

Monday's Walk - 4th September 2023

Albert Town New Castle Track

Meet at 9.30 at the waterfront car park opposite McDougall Street
Then drive to Albert Town to the DOC parking area at the end of Gunn Road. Albert Towers can meet us there.

We will walk to the bridge and then up to the swing bridge over the Hawea River.
Followed by a stroll through the Butterfield wetlands ending up on the banks of the Clutha River.
Then up the hill following the cliff edge to the Newcastle Track.
At this point we drop down to the beehives on the river flat below and out to the Clutha River for lunch.
Great views. Some off track walking so wear sturdy foot wear.
Approx 12 K and 4 hours walking time.
