Monday 25th June

Nine Mile Historic Reserve

Drive 30 min. to Tarras, then on towards the Pass for about 15km (10 min.)  Turn left onto Old Faithful Road (sign is opposite Timburn Road) where we will park.

There should be fresh snow on the hills, so cool, but hopefully some sun.  Wear warm clothes, bring wet weather gear. Boots will be useful on the (possibly) muddy gravel road.

This old route through the Pass is a flat and easy 6km walk, following the Lindis river to the Nine Mile Historic Reserve, with the remains of the old stone Lindis Hotel. Old gold diggings can be seen nearby (from Otago's first gold rush in 1861) along with the remains of the concrete hut built by the last miner.

We will find a lunch spot and return by the same route.
