Mondays Walk 17th September

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF MEETING VENUE. WANAKA STATION PARK https://www.google.co.nz/maps/search/wanaka+station+park/@-44.6998687,169.1192031,287m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

The weather looks terrible with cold rain/snow. I shall be at the new starting point at Wanaka Station Park which is the further along the lake front by the start of Waterfall Creek Track at the usual time of 9.30am.( The normal meeting place is being revamped by the council)

If it is pouring with rain then those who are mad enough to turn up can decide what to do. 1. Go home. 2. Walk to a coffee shop. 3. do a short planned walk (see below)

if it is OK we will be walking a gentle loop around Hawea, hopefully sheltered from the southerly weather.

Start at  the car park at Lake Hawea camp ground .  Walk around the base of the dam to the Hawea Albert Town track till we get to the Cemetery Road entrance. We walk down the track beside Cemetery Road to Muir Road. Walk to the lake front then turn right towards Gladstone and find somewhere on the lakefront for lunch. Retrace along waterfront back to the cars. Walk can be varied from 8 to 12 Kms depending on weather and we can stop at the Hawea cafe which has great cakes and coffee.
