Monday's walk 20th April

The weather report for Monday is for 'Rain about the headwaters and scattered falls further east', but we'll  have a go at the Bush Creek Trail anyway. This starts at the Arrowtown Chinese Settlement and wanders up Bush Ceek for a couple of kilometres. The track is contained within a narrow, steep-sided valley with lovely autumn colours. The total height gain for those who choose to go out into a short tussocky valley at the top to look over the larches above Arrowtown, is only 460 metres.
But note:
  • We are likely to get our feet wet, so bring a change of shoes.
  • It could be a latish afternoon if we take coffee after the walk.
  • We may break into two parties after an hour's walking: Those who want to get out onto the tussock slopes and those who wish to amble. Going on the makeup of last week's group, most should make it to the top.
If the weather is unsuitable, the alternative walk will be down the  Clutha River track from the Cardrona River, possibly to the Red Bridge. A car shuffle may be organised.
