The forecast suggests little if any rain around Cromwell, so we now have a Plan B as well:
Plan A: Motatapu Gorge. As per yesterday's posting.
Plan B: Cairnmuir landslide. A walk up to the head of the Cairnmuir landslide control structure, the prominent earthworks visible across Lake Dunstan 4 km south of Cromwell. 4 km each way via a good 4WD track, steep in places, with a height gain of about one and a half Mt Irons.
