News of Monday walks of Wanaka Walkers.
Meet on lake front near Show Grounds, McDougall Street, usually at 9:30.
Visitors welcome - bring suitable boots, clothes and lunch.
Tuohys Saddle Turn left towards the Snow Farm but across the bridge turn right to the car park a few hundred metres further on (through a couple of gates). It should be fine although showers are possible in the afternoon, probably well after we're done. Keep an eye out for NZ falcons!
Upper Clutha River Track. From Albert Town down the true right of the
river. Turn right from Kingston St into Arklow St and follow on to a
small car park at the start of the track.
Carricktown. Drive through Bannockburn to Schoolhouse Road then right
again into Quartzville Road up to the gate at the start of the 4WD track
leading to the goldfield ruins. The track goes up to and past the
waterwheel but we won't be going that far.

Boundary Creek on road to Makarora. There is a small carpark at the
start of the walk just past bridge. Walk is a steady climb up a 4WD
track with glorious views.
Petrol donation $10
Up the Dunstan Lake track from the Clyde Dam. We drive to Clyde, cross the red bridge and turn right into Fruit Growers Road. Follow this and park by the camping area by the lake. Hopefully there will not be too many cyclists and anyway the track is mostly wide enough. After enough kilometers we will stop for lunch, then return the same way.
Petrol contribution $15

Sawpit Gully for the Autumn colours - drive to Arrowtown and (if possible, park) meet by the Chinese village. We will go anti-clockwise with lunch at the high point - with an optional side trip to the top of German Hill.

Dry Creek. Drive to the DOC car park halfway along Ardgour Road behind Tarras. Last time we stayed low in the valley - so this time we will turn up onto the ridge that leads to Cloudy Peak. Rain is supposed to stay away until 4pm, but the forecast keeps changing.
Petrol contribution $10.

Name badges (for pinning on your rucksack) can be ordered from Martin Unwin for $2, using the form above.

Have a look at the Safety and Rules pages (see the links above). In particular respect the rules for DoC protected sites - take only photos - do not pick flowers or move/remove historic artifacts
Meeting point
Google now charges to include a map, and their instructions on getting a free API_KEY are too gobbledegooglish for me to bother. The normal meeting place is the lake front near the showgrounds, Lat:-44.6990, Lng:169.1257.
