Mondays Walk 26th February 2024

Deans Bank to Dublin Bay.

Meet at the usual spot on the lake front. 
We will go to the Albert Town campsite and follow the  Deans Bank track to the Lake Outlet area. There we join the Dublin Bay track and follow it to a suitable spot for lunch at Dublin Bay. 
We will return the same way to our cars. Forecast is for a warm day with high cloud.

Albert Town residents can meet us at the walk start if they wish.

Mondays Walk - 19th February 2024

Fern Burn Track


Meet at 9.30am at waterfront carpark opposite McDougall street.

Drive Mt Aspiring Road to Glendhu Bay then turn left at Motatapu Road and continue 3 km to carpark on left, just before the ford.  Easy walk following up the Fern Burn stream through grassy flats, shrubland and beech forest for about 2 hours (3-4km) – lunch stop somewhere near the bridge, then return the same way.

Forecast is for a fine but windy day.

Mondays Walk 12th Feb 2024

Newcastle Track

Meet at 9:30 at the usual spot at the lakefront. 

We will drive via the Red Bridge to the carpark on Kanes Road
Then we will follow the Newcastle Track up the true left of the Clutha River to a suitable lunch spot then return on the same track to the cars.

It is forecast to be cloudy with mild temperatures

Mondays Walk 5 February 2024

Kawerau Trail

Meet at 9:30 at the usual spot at the lakefront. 

We will drive to the Bannockburn Bridge, parking on the left just before the bridge. 
Then will follow the path up the true left of the Kawarau River, past historical mining sites, to a suitable lunch spot then return on the same track to the cars.

It is forecast to be cloudy and warm.

Monday 18th Dec

West end of Millennium track.
Christmas Shared lunch. Meet 9.30 at usual Lake front spot.
We'll drive to the Mt Aspiring Viewpoint carpark on Mt Aspiring Rd, Wanaka side of Glendhu Bay. Then walk to Damper bay and return to the cars (8-10 km) where we can collect our lunch and find a sheltered spot to share our repast. Something to share would be nice. Bring a chair if you don't want to be on the ground. The weather is looking good (16-20degrees) so you might want to bring togs and have a lake dip as well.

Monday Walk 11th December 2023

UPPER CLUTHA TRACK

Meeting at 9.30 at the carpark on Wanaka lakefront.

We travel to Albert Town, turning into Kingston St, turning right into Kinnibeg Street.From the car park at the entrance to the track we walk a short distance to Pawsons Crossing bridge.The walk takes us along the beautiful Clutha River until lunch time and then return, about 12 kms.An easy gradient for all.

ATTENTION: NEXT MONDAY'S WALK, 18TH DECEMBER WILL INCLUDE OUR TRADITIONAL END OF YEAR SHARED LUNCH.BRING A PLATE TO SHARE WITH EVERYONE TO START OFF CELEBRATIONS FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON.

MONDAY WALK 4TH DECEMBER 2023

GLADSTONE TRACK.JOHN CREEK TO LAKE HAWEA TOWNSHIP.

Firstly, thank you to our wonderful committee members who organised this year's week away in Dunedin.It was enjoyed by all while discovering new areas of the Dunedin landscape.Bob and Jean Maina were sorely missed but a delicious carrot cake still made an appearance.
Meet as usual at the carpark on the Wanaka lakefront at 9.30.
 We are travelling to Lake Hawea turning right into Camp Hill Rd and then at the end turn left into Gladstone Rd.Cross over Cemetery Rd and continue on the dirt road to John Creek Reserve.
The walk is 12.5 kilometers return with an easy gradient.Lunch will be at noon and we return the same way.
Coffee, iced chocolates, ice cream or carrot cake at the cafe in Hawea afterwards.
