Monday's walk - 10 February

Meet at the usual place ready to leave at 9.30.

We will travel to the Albert Town campsite and park at the start of the Dean's Bank track. Our walk will follow this and then the Dublin Bay track to Dublin Bay.

We will have lunch, and an optional swim there, before retracing our route back to the car. 12km approx in total with some small undulations.

The forecast is warm and any rain should clear before we start.

Monday's Walk 3rd February 2025

Destination: Old Woman Hut (Ignore my previous post re Haast Pass Bridle Path!)
Description: A 10 km return walk from Duffers Saddle behind Bannockburn to the Old Woman Hut, with expansive views over Cromwell and Lake Dunstan to the north and the Nevis Valley and Hector Mountains to the west. The Nevis Road to Duffers Saddle is readily negotiable by car but is unsealed and perhaps better suited to a 4WD. Petrol donation $10 per person.

Monday's walk 27th Jan 2025

Plan A was for Mt.Crichton loop, 12km beyond Queenstown, a 6.4km loop. But there is a bridge missing at Maori Gully which would involve a (small) river crossing.
Plan B is the Bridle Track - Davis Flat to Haast Pass and lookout and return, about 7km. Perhaps some risk of rain
Opinions will be sought and ignored at the lake front.
Plan B was chosen.

Monday's walk 13th January 2025

Lindis Peak. Starting from Old Faithful Road at 360m the track rises to Lindis Peak at 1226m for panoramic views. Returning the same way for a total of 13km. DOC predict 5-6hr but we will not be in a hurry, with regular drink and scenic stops; so probably no coffee stop in Tarras.
