- many walks cross private land - respect the landholders rights - stick to paths - don't disturb stock
 - leave gates how you find them - the person who opens a gate should stay with it and close it
 - don't bring dogs (the 10o'clock group sometimes allow dogs on particular walks, but check first)
 - many walks cross protected Conservation land - do not pick flowers, disturb animals, move or remove historic artifacts
 - listen to instructions from the walks leader
 - stay with the group - don't get too far ahead or turn back without letting the leader know
 - be careful crossing roads - when following a road without a path, face oncoming traffic
 - be careful and considerate on tracks shared with cyclists
 - we usually car share - offer to contribute for petrol, especially if you do not drive often - say $5 to $15 each, depending on distance
