The Hook to Upper Clutha Track.
Given we've been far afield last week, we'll stay close to home this Monday. From the Hook we'll take the new pathway around to Pawson's crossing and onto the Upper Clutha Track.
We'll travel as far as we wish for lunch and then retrace our steps. For those that wish there is afternoon tea at the Hook.

Monday 18th November
There will be no organised walk in Wanaka on Monday. However if you wish to walk gather at the usual meeting place and choose something to do together.
Those of us going to Oamaru will meet in the BBQ area of the Top Ten Holiday Park for drinks at 5.30 to discuss the weeks activities.
Here's to an interesting week.

Monday 11th November
LONG GULLY-SANDY POINT Tracks
The walk today will go from Jolly Road entrance to Long Gully track up 6km to the transmission Towers (952m). Depending on the numbers we will either do a car shuttle and therefore come down the Sandy Point track or return down the Long Gully track. So a 11-12 Km day. It will be cold and possibly muddy underfoot after the rain. The track up is a 4WD track and a medium gradient. Southerlies forecast but hopefully we'll miss the rain.

Monday's Walk 4 November 2019
Bush Creek
Starting from the Arrowtown Chinese village we'll walk up Bush Creek, a side trip off the Sawpit Gully track. It's a 300 m climb over 4 km to the first lunch option, a pleasant tussock flat surrounded by beech forest, and a further 120 m climb over 1 km to the second option at the head of the valley on a saddle overlooking Speargrass Flat and the Lake Hayes basin. Group enthusiasm will inform our choice, tempered by the knowledge that the extra time taken to return from the superior viewpoint may erode our café time in Arrowtown on our return.
