News of Monday walks of Wanaka Walkers.
Meet on lake front near Show Grounds, McDougall Street, usually at 9:30.
Visitors welcome - bring suitable boots, clothes and lunch.
McPhies Ridge - drive past Tarras to Cluden Hill, turn right and park the other side of the bridge over the Lindis River. After a couple of km on the flat we climb steadily up a 4WD track - aiming to have lunch near the 836m spot height. Back the same way. Coffee in Tarras.
Leader: Brian Gilbert
From West Wanaka to Colquhouns Beach and back.
Leader: Tony Waterworth
Appeal for walks leaders: we do not have leaders for August and September - please come forward if you are willing to lead one or more walks. Also we need someone to organise these two months, making sure there is a leader, putting the details on the blog, passing on the notebook, first aid kit & PLB each week while Tony & Brian are away.
Name badges (for pinning on your rucksack) can be ordered from Martin Unwin for $2, using the form above.
Notice
Have a look at the Safety and Rules pages (see the links above). In particular respect the rules for DoC protected sites - take only photos - do not pick flowers or move/remove historic artifacts
Meeting point
Google now charges to include a map, and their instructions on getting a free API_KEY are too gobbledegooglish for me to bother. The normal meeting place is the lake front near the showgrounds, Lat:-44.6990, Lng:169.1257.
